Ethics in Business Award

Today we were honored to be named the recipient of the 10th Annual Ethics in Business Award by The Samaritan Counseling Center. This recognition identifies our organization as one that has demonstrated exemplary ethical practices.

The criteria for the award are based on the five principles of ethical behavior, as outlined in the book The Ethical Imperative: Why Moral Leadership is Good Business by John Dalla Costa. The five principles are Respecting Others, Being Fair, Being Honest, Striving for Justice, and Honoring the Environment. The Selection Committee chooses finalists after a review process.

Ken Schiller, Co-Owner, said of the award, “Being recognized provides us with great validation that we are operating at the highest ethical level possible. We measure each degree of our success and this award is another way for us to acknowledge the things we are doing right.”

Take Me Out to the Ballgame

You probably didn’t know this about me, but I’m a huge baseball fan! You’ve seen me at Texas football games and basketball games, but during baseball season, it’s Disch-Falk Field where I spend most of my time. If there is anything I love more than a good baseball game, it’s a Mighty Fine burger and marketing for them allows me to combine two of my favorite things. If you see me, be sure to say hi and get a picture. Oh, and watch for me in the 7th inning stretch. I sing a pretty mean rendition of “Take Me Out to the Ballgame!”

Banana Cream Pie Milkshakes

4th Grade Fan

Allison is in the 4th grade (and has impeccable cursive handwriting). She sent us a letter telling us how much she loves Mighty Fine. We appreciate it when guests take the time to let us know that they are delighted, as this is our mission. Receiving letters like this in the mail make our day! Thanks for the letter, Allison. We hope to see you soon!

Texas Hospitality

If you’re not from Texas originally (and we can only assume you got here as fast as you could) you may have noticed a few things are different here than the state you came from. Texans have a tremendous pride in our Mighty Fine state and for good reason. Everything is bigger here, from the pride to the genuine Texas Hospitality. That’s something that makes Mighty Fine different than other burger places, too. We were born in Austin and are “classic Texas” all the way. Of course we have a modern twist (hello hand jacuzzi!) but we believe that some traditions don’t need changing. That’s why when you come into our restaurants we serve our burgers with Texas Hospitality you can feel.

We recently got a group of our amazing team members together and asked them what Texas Hospitality truly means. After all, it is an intangible emotion and it’s hard to put your finger on exactly what makes it so great. We established there are specific things truly unique to Texas and the experience you have in our Mighty Fine restaurants. Friendly team members that are engaging and authentic, working hard together in harmony to create legendary experiences for our guests in a fun, traditional Texas Manner.

January 2012!

It’s another new year and Mighty Fine is excited to get our year started off right by building another house for Habitat for Humanity. We partnered with Austin Habitat two years ago and have been donating money ever since. All of our Team Members get involved by donating money from each paycheck to the cause and then K&N Management matches that money. It takes $65,000 to build a house and we’ve reached this milestone once again! This will be the second house have built and are excited to keep y’all updated with our progress here.

The family that will eventually move into the house we build have seven children! They currently live in a three bedroom apartment and often ask, “Why don’t we have a Christmas tree like everyone else?” or “Why can’t we have toys?” and the answer is always, “Because we don’t have room.” When his children beg him to have a house, their father has to explain they cannot afford one.

The children don’t know that their parents have been working for over a year to help build homes for other families so that they may one day have a home of their own. The day the home is dedicated to the family is the day the children find out their dreams have come true!

Last year we were awarded the honor of “Top Place to Work” by the Austin American Statesman. Working for Mighty Fine is fun because of the people we have on our team. Exceeding Expectations

At Mighty Fine, it is our mission “to guarantee that every guest is delighted because of me.” That’s why it’s so important to us to meet and exceed our guests’ requirements. We have been getting a lot of questions lately about our decision to remove the crushed ice machines from our restaurants. The crushed ice machines were not reliable and the repair turn around was not quick enough. We chose a product that would perform consistently and meet our guests’ expectations and requirements. We want to provide our guests with the best food and service every time they come in, because that’s what they have come to expect from Mighty Fine. We will continue to do that into the future!

Austin Habitat for Humanity

At Mighty Fine we deliver high quality, tasty foods to our guests quickly and accurately, with a smile on our face all the way. Quite simply, we’re day-makers, but that doesn’t just stop inside our restaurants. Mighty Fine is committed to serving the community in Austin and we get involved every chance we get. We like to get our hands dirty and we like to see the smiles on the faces of people we’ve helped.

We started building a home for Austin Habitat for Humanity in January and it has been an exciting journey. We began a relationship with Austin Habitat early last year when we started raising and donating money, every day a little closer to our $65,000 goal. We raised enough money as a company to build a house so build a house is what we’re doing!
