It’s another new year and Mighty Fine is excited to get our year started off right by building another house for Habitat for Humanity. We partnered with Austin Habitat two years ago and have been donating money ever since. All of our Team Members get involved by donating money from each paycheck to the cause and then K&N Management matches that money. It takes $65,000 to build a house and we’ve reached this milestone once again! This will be the second house have built and are excited to keep y’all updated with our progress here.
The family that will eventually move into the house we build have seven children! They currently live in a three bedroom apartment and often ask, “Why don’t we have a Christmas tree like everyone else?” or “Why can’t we have toys?” and the answer is always, “Because we don’t have room.” When his children beg him to have a house, their father has to explain they cannot afford one.
The children don’t know that their parents have been working for over a year to help build homes for other families so that they may one day have a home of their own. The day the home is dedicated to the family is the day the children find out their dreams have come true!
We cannot wait to provide a home for this family to move into. For more information on Austin Habitat for Humanity, check out their website.
We hope 2012 is a year filled with new experiences and promises for all of our fans and we look forward to serving Austin for the next year and beyond!
Last year we were awarded the honor of “Top Place to Work” by the Austin American Statesman. Working for Mighty Fine is fun because of the people we have on our team. Our team members commitment to excellence and passion for guest delight can’t be beat. Right now is an exciting time for Mighty Fine because we’re getting ready to open our fourth location. The new store will be located in Cedar Park in 1890 Ranch. We are currently hiring all positions for our new location. If you want to make people’s days, work for a nationally recognized performance excellence company, and be apart of Austin’s “Top Workplace,” then we want YOU!

At Mighty Fine, it is our mission “to guarantee that every guest is delighted because of me.” That’s why it’s so important to us to meet and exceed our guests’ requirements. We have been getting a lot of questions lately about our decision to remove the crushed ice machines from our restaurants. The crushed ice machines were not reliable and the repair turn around was not quick enough. We chose a product that would perform consistently and meet our guests’ expectations and requirements. We want to provide our guests with the best food and service every time they come in, because that’s what they have come to expect from Mighty Fine. We will continue to do that into the future!
By now you’ve heard our Mighty Fine news. We’ve been selected as a 2010 recipient of the prestigious Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award! This has established us as role models in the business world. You may wonder what it takes to receive the highest presidential honor in the nation. Here’s our “secret recipe” for success…
At Mighty Fine we deliver high quality, tasty foods to our guests quickly and accurately, with a smile on our face all the way. Quite simply, we’re day-makers, but that doesn’t just stop inside our restaurants. Mighty Fine is committed to serving the community in Austin and we get involved every chance we get. We like to get our hands dirty and we like to see the smiles on the faces of people we’ve helped.
We started building a home for Austin Habitat for Humanity in January and it has been an exciting journey. We began a relationship with Austin Habitat early last year when we started raising and donating money, every day a little closer to our $65,000 goal. We raised enough money as a company to build a house so build a house is what we’re doing!
Here is a group of our volunteers on site:
Today, the house looks like this:
We’re so close to accomplishing our goal and we want to thank everyone who has taken the time to volunteer with us and along side us. Thank you to Austin Habitat for Humanity for allowing us to do something wonderful for a family in our community! Giving back is Mighty Fine!
On Friday, February 18 a delegation of 58 professionals from Korean Standards Association visited us with the goal of benchmarking our best practices in organizational excellence. The visit included a presentation, store tours and lots of thoughtful questions and answers! It is our vision to become world famous by delighting one guest at a time and meeting with the folks from Korea was a delightful part of this process. We were so honored to have them visit and we hope they took away some Mighty Fine information. It was nice to meat you all!
Our mission is “To guarantee that every guest is delighted because of me.” This year, our yearly focus, “Because of ME” highlights an important part of that mission: me. Without our hard working team members, we wouldn’t be where we are today. Everyone in our company affects guest delight and our team members know that identifying opportunities to go above and beyond is what makes our service world-class. Each week this year, a different team member will be selected to be highlighted as a guest delight role model. Their stories will be shared across the company and in social media. We hope every team member feels pride in knowing they are the “me” that delight our guests.
A fellow Gorilla is making worldwide news this week for walking on his hind legs. Ambam is a 21-year-old silverback who lives in a British animal park. An animal researcher filmed and posted a clipof him walking upright like a human on YouTube, launching him into fame.
After reading this article I was surprised and excited to see I’m not the only one! If any other gorillas out there have Ambam’s contact information, please email me! I think I see a family resemblance. I wonder if he also wears t-shirts and has an affinity for high quality cheeseburgers…
You may have asked yourself this question at Mighty Fine before. Though our kitchen is open and our prep areas are transparent, have you ever wondered what some of our team members are doing? More specifically, have you ever wondered what it is that makes Mighty Fine’s food so…Mighty Fine? We want to divulge a few of our secrets so the next time you won’t have to wonder, “What in the world are they doing back there?
So, what in the world does a fry cook do?
We cook our fries in 100% peanut oil because it has the best flavor. As you know, we have the only fresh cut crinkle cut fries in Texas (and just about anywhere that we know of). Making the fries taste mighty perfect is the job of our the fry cook.
What in the world is that white thing for?
This salt shaker dispenses the same amount of salt with each shake so that all batches of fries have consistent flavor.
Why in the world is he throwing away those fries?
At Mighty Fine everything is of the best quality and freshness and we’ll never serve a product that isn’t up to our seemingly impossible high standards. For that reason, we only hold fries for 60 seconds before throwing them out. That’s how you know every order will be piping hot and ripe for the eating! Why in the world would you need a scale to cook fries?
We weigh each order to fries to make sure that you, the guest, is getting the correct amount. We know our fries are delicious and we want to make sure you get every single one you ordered!
Why in the world did he put the fries back in the fryer?
Our fryer times each order of fries to ensure they’re cooked to perfection. Some guests prefer our fries extra crispy which requires more time in the fryer. Likewise, some guests prefer the fries be cooked for less time, which is something we will also accommodate. Our mission to to delight every guest so we want to be sure we do that!
Now you know why in the world you love our fries so much! We’ve got nothing to hide and hope you enjoyed a peek at the man behind the non-existent curtain! Don’t ever wonder what in the world we’re doing back there again…just ask!
During the Holidays, time can escape you. It seems like we blink our eyes and it’s suddenly a New Year. The holidays have been an exciting time at Mighty Fine this year because we’ve had a ton of excitement surrounding us! First we were named the Top Place to Work in Austin, an honor bestowed to us from the Austin American Statesman. In case you missed it, you can read the article here.
We also introduced a brand new Mighty Fine license plate for fans to show off their love for quality and get paid for it. If you spot one of them on the street, you know you have something in common with the driver. More information on the Mighty Fine license plates, how to purchase one and how to get $100 in Burger Bucks in your pocket, visit our My Plates page on our website!
We received news in late November that we were the first Austin-based business and only the second restaurant group to be selected as a Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award recipient! This is the highest national honor given to businesses for quality and excellence, things we put first at Mighty Fine. Receiving this award has been great validation that we are achieving our mission of delighting guests. We could not have gotten where we have without loyalty from our Fine-atics and hard work and dedication from our excellent team members. To see the Austin American Statesman’s article on the award, click here. You can see all of the media coverage surrounding the announcement on our website and we’ll be sure to keep you updated as we head to Washington D.C. to accept our award from President Obama this year!
We want to kick off 2011 by truly thanking every one of you, because you don’t become The Best without having the best fans around. Cheers, Mighty Fine-atics and here’s to a great 2011!
